So what do you guys think of Google Chrome?
From reading their cute and informative comic book* on the history and decision-making, it certainly sounds like it could be the Best Thing Evah.
(From reading the, er, Internet, on the other hand, it also sounds like they’ve got a few bugs to work out first… but what
beta software program doesn’t?)
I anticipate they’ll have the same marketing problems as any Windows-competitor: All PCs come bundled with (the unquestionably suckier) Internet Explorer, and 99% (I just made that number up) of users are either too ignorant to download a better browser (like, say, Firefox) b/c they don’t even know it exists (or why they should), or they’re too lazy/apathetic to bother. /end rant
While most Windows users are addicted to IE, most Mac (and Other) users have chosen Safari, FF, or Opera as their browser of choice. That said, these users have already bucked the statistics by buying outside the box in the first place, so IMO they’ve proven themselves to be open to trying Something Different. Chrome might find its first fanbase with these folks. (And, yanno, geeky engineer/programmer types who lurve shiny new internet apps.)
/end totally random non-writing-related blog post about my pal Google and their crazy shenanigans
* Check it out: They might be the first company whose online documentation includes the handy acronym OMFG. Points right there, eh?
